Yonder Mountain Sausage Party Closes Out The Summer Camp Pre-Party [Videos]

first_imgThe Yonder Mountain String Band soldiered through their Thursday night Campfire Stage set at Summer Camp Music Festival without recent mother and fiddle player Allie Kral. Given the lineup, bassist Ben Kaufmann decided Yonder needed a temporary name change to reflect the band’s sudden loss of estrogen, though Kral did arrive the next day in time to play with Yonder on the main stage. Under the moniker Yonder Mountain Sausage Party, the band kicked off the weekend’s festivities, with mandolin firebrand Jacob Jolliff offering some fierce psychedelic breakdowns to make up for Kral’s absence.Yonder has a long history of delivering memorable sets at Summer Camp over the years. They’ve been coming to Chillicothe, Illinois, since the very beginning of the festival, becoming a perennial favorite for those looking to hear some fine bluegrass and boot scoot the night away. Yonder wasn’t letting anything stop them from delivering the best show they could on Thursday night, and between their virtuoso playing and charming stage banter, the packed hill overlooking the Campfire Stage was all smiles and dancing as the band raged ’til 4 a.m.Helping fans have a good time is nothing new to Yonder though. Wherever they go, the band does what they can to leave the world a better place than where they found it—including at their upcoming festival, the Northwest String Summit, in Oregon. Once again, the band will help raise money for a wonderful cause: the Lillian Trippe Foundation in support of Chelsea’s Closet, which provides fun costumes as much-needed distractions for kids in the hospital battling life-threatening diseases. This year, our own Rex Thomson, who shot the videos below, will have his head shaved onstage at Northwest String Summit, to help promote the cause. Check out the charity’s fine works here, and donate if you can. As Yonder has proved time and again over the years, a little love goes a long way. Okay, now that we have that done, check out these exclusive clips from the “Yonder Mountain Sausage Party” set below!“Kentucky Mandolin” “The End Is Not In Sight” “Rambler’s Anthem”last_img read more

Unified Land Information System to assist in coordination between agencies of Government

first_imgChief Personnel Officer, Mrs. Irma Edwards addressing the official launching of ULIS yesterday.Ms. Irma Edwards the Chief Personnel Officer in the Establishment Personnel and Training Department, says the Unified Land Information System (ULIS) will address concerns of coordination between agencies of Government.“I am sure that over the years you would have complaints that one Ministry of Government does not know what another is doing and that their programs are contradictory, redundant or both. From time to time you would also have heard of the lack of coordination between agencies of Government, resulting in protracted processing times and longer time for delivery of public goods and services.”Ms. Edwards who was at the time addressing the official launching of the ULIS yesterday says the Government has taken steps to address these concerns, and the implementation of the ULIS being one such measure.“We have heard and in response to such issues Government has expended tremendous resources and effort in strengthening its institutional framework.  Building capacity in certain critical sectors, specifically sectors that are providing services to the business community to promote sustainable, economic development through a structured and organized program of reform and modernization, emphasis placed on capacity building and the transfer of skills as well as practical and sustainable solutions backed by appropriate legal and constitutional frameworks,” she said. The Chief Personnel Officer also highlighted Government’s efforts at placing citizens at the centre of the public service, in keeping with the a study conducted by the Commonwealth Association of Public Administrators.“As we continue unstintingly in our modernization efforts the following characteristics will shape the innovations in the coming years. Putting citizens at the center of the public service thereby promoting citizen centered Government, crossing organizational boundaries, use of technology, process improvement for faster simpler processes, and involvement of organizations outside the public service, forging lifetime partnerships with private and voluntary sectors. We can look forward to many more similar launchings, implementations of initiatives that will strengthen Governments governance and advanced developments for future generations,” Mrs. Edwards said. She also encouraged all Government agencies to “embrace the opportunites that change provides to facilitate and encourage people centered development.”However, she noted that for these reforms to be successful, “public service administrators, functionaries, clients and users alike must learn new ways of looking at things and new ways of doing things and to see things in a comparative perspective.”Dominica Vibes News Sharing is caring!
