By Friday afternoon, snow levels could be at the 5,500-foot level in the local mountains, falling to 5,000 feet by Saturday, NWS officials said. While the rain likely will not arrive until after tonight’s rush hour, forecasters said some areas could get intense bouts of rain for periods of three to five hours before the storm begins moving out Friday evening. A 70 percent chance of rain is expected for most of Friday, when there also will be a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Expect cold daytime temperatures in the 60s today, dropping into the 50s on Friday and remaining cold through the weekend as a mass of cold air follows in the wake of the storm. Saturday and Sunday should be partly cloudy, with a 20 percent chance of rain both days, forecasters said.
